Making an Offer and Negotiating

You’ve found a home you love, and now it’s time to make an offer! Before submitting an offer, your real estate agent can help you review comparable sales, current market conditions, and the property’s asking price to determine a reasonable offer. You’ll also need to consider your purchase price, earnest money deposit, down payment, closing costs, contingencies, and preferred closing date.

Remember, the highest offer isn’t always the winning offer. Sellers may also consider financing strength, contingencies, closing timelines, and other terms of the contract. There may be some negotiating along the way, so be prepared for a counteroffer or a little back-and-forth before reaching an agreement.

Remember, making an offer is more than choosing a price. It’s about putting together a strong agreement that protects your interests while giving you the best opportunity to purchase the home.
